Who we are

Sustainable change is the goal of our work with communities. With every community project, we aim to empower people by harnessing local resources and skills.

Our community projects focus on education, health and community development, which we believe are pivotal for sustainable social and economic change. By providing access to education, we can equip people with the fundamental tools to create a better quality of life. With this goal in mind, we contribute to building, maintaining and increasing access to local schools.

Some of our work in health focuses on providing communities with access to medical care. We help build local hospitals and take temporary medical services to communities that are far from or do not have any access to public healthcare.

For us, community development has both social and economic aspects. We aim to develop local people’s skills, identify economic opportunities and promote entrepreneurship. We also work to help integrate marginalised communities, and have promoted social exchange between communities through arts and cultural events and sports competitions.

The ArcelorMittal Foundation is also committed to supporting communities that have suffered natural disasters or conflict. We partner with local non-profit organisations and emergency aid agencies to ascertain community needs and provide immediate relief.
